Physical Therapist That Comes to Your Home in Florida

If getting to a clinic feels impossible right now — because of pain, transportation, kids, work, or just exhaustion — you have another option. Licensed physical therapists can come to you, anywhere in Florida, with everything they need to evaluate and treat you in your own living room.

How in-home physical therapy works, step by step

From the first call to the first session, the process is built to remove friction:

  1. One short intake call. We confirm your basic information, your insurance (PIP and MedPay for most auto-accident patients), and what you're dealing with. This typically takes 10–15 minutes.
  2. Match with a local PT. We assign a licensed physical therapist who already covers your zip code, so travel time stays low and scheduling stays flexible.
  3. Schedule your first visit. Most patients are seen within 48 hours of intake.
  4. The evaluation. Your PT comes to your home, takes a full history, examines you, and builds a plan of care. We send a copy to your physician.
  5. Ongoing visits. Typically two to three sessions per week, each 45–60 minutes, until you've met your goals.

There is no waiting room. No transport to arrange. No babysitter to find. Your therapist arrives at the scheduled time and works around your life.

What a home visit actually looks like

Your physical therapist arrives with a soft treatment mat, manual-therapy tools, resistance bands, balance equipment, and any small modalities your plan calls for. They will need a clear space about the size of a yoga mat — your living-room floor, a bedroom, or even a porch will do.

A typical visit includes:

  • A quick check-in about how you've felt since the last session
  • Hands-on (manual) treatment to calm sore tissue and free up restricted joints
  • Guided exercises tailored to your stage of recovery
  • Practical coaching on the moments that flare you up — your couch, your bed, your car seat, your work setup
  • A short home program to do between sessions

A family member or caregiver is welcome but not required. Sessions are documented exactly like a clinic visit and shared with your physician.

Who in-home PT is built for

In-home physical therapy is an especially good fit if you:

  • Are in too much pain to drive comfortably or sit in a car for a long stretch
  • Don't have reliable transportation right now
  • Are caring for young children and can't leave the house for an hour at a time
  • Are an older adult who finds clinic environments overwhelming
  • Live in a rural part of Florida where the nearest clinic is an hour away
  • Are recovering from surgery and need care before you're cleared to drive
  • Have anxiety about busy waiting rooms or shared gym spaces
  • Have already missed clinic visits because of the logistics

Plenty of patients use in-home PT for the first weeks of recovery and then graduate to a clinic for late-stage strength work — both are good options. We help you make the call that fits your situation.

We cover 50+ Florida counties

Our network of licensed physical therapists reaches into every major Florida metro and most rural counties — from Pensacola down to the Keys, and across the Tampa Bay, Orlando, Jacksonville, and South Florida regions. If you're not sure whether we cover your address, ask during the intake call; we'll tell you in 30 seconds.

Most patients pay $0 out of pocket

Florida's PIP (Personal Injury Protection) coverage is built into every standard auto policy in the state. For most auto-accident patients, PIP — and MedPay if you carry it — covers your physical therapy visits with no out-of-pocket cost. We verify your coverage on the intake call before your first session, so there are no billing surprises.

Two practical notes:

  • The 14-day rule. Florida PIP generally requires you to be seen by a qualified medical provider within 14 days of the crash to keep your full benefits. The sooner you start, the more of your coverage stays available.
  • Non-auto patients. If your injury wasn't from a car accident, we can still talk you through coverage options on the intake call.

What makes home visits different

We come to you — anywhere in Florida

In a clinic, the gym is the gym. At home, the gym is wherever you actually live your life — and that's a huge advantage. We can practice getting in and out of your real bed, your real couch, your real car, and your real shower, instead of a generic clinic surface. The exercises you take home are the exercises you've already done in the space where you'll do them.

That tends to translate into faster, more durable progress, especially in the early weeks after a crash.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral from my doctor to start in-home PT?
Florida is a direct-access state, so you can start an evaluation without a physician referral. For PIP coverage we'll coordinate with a physician on documentation. Many patients are already seeing a primary care doctor or specialist after a crash; we'll loop them in.
How quickly can a therapist come to my home?
Most first visits are scheduled within 48 hours of the intake call. Same-day visits are sometimes possible depending on your county.
What if I live in a rural part of Florida?
Our network covers more than 50 Florida counties, including many rural ones where the nearest clinic is an hour or more away. Ask during intake — we'll confirm coverage at your specific address.
Will my physician get a copy of my treatment notes?
Yes. Every evaluation and progress note is documented the same way a clinic would document it, and we send copies to the physician of your choice.
